IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design Donald O. Pederson Best Paper Award

The IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design Donald O. Pederson Best Paper Award is sponsored by the IEEE Council on EDA and recognizes the best paper published in the Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems publication.

The award is based on the overall quality, the originality, the level of contribution, the subject matter and the timeliness of the research. Anyone who is an author of a paper published in the Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems during the two calendar years preceding the award is eligible for nomination.

About Donald O. Pederson

Donald O. Pederson, professor emeritus of electrical engineering and computer sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, is perhaps best known in the field of electronic design automation for spearheading the development of a groundbreaking integrated circuit computer simulation program called SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis). The program allows engineers to analyze and design complex electronic circuitry with speed and accuracy. Pederson's colleagues point out that virtually every electronic chip, developed anywhere in the world today, uses SPICE or one of its derivatives at critical stages during its design.

Pederson died in 2004 of complications from Parkinson's disease.
