Financially Sponsored Workshop DAPE Design Automation for Power Electronics Workshop Website Registration Description Design Automation for Power Electronics – DAPE Workshop IEEE PELS and IEEE CEDA will hold the first “Design Automation for Power Electronics (DAPE)” Workshop on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 – the day before and in the same venue as ECCE 2018 at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon. The purpose of this workshop is to understand the problems of Design Automation in Power Electronics, identify methodologies that have been used so far by academia and industry and identify the tools that have been developed to resolve the issues during design. The focus of the workshop is to bring together the experts in both Power Electronics and Design Automation and have them present their perspectives on the emerging needs. The expected results are: a clear identification of the common ground and synergy between Power Electronics and Design Automation an understanding where the limits of the current technology and tools are in Design Automation for Power Electronics a description of the needs for future work DAPE has become of strategic importance for the Power Electronics Society as modern designs (especially in highly integrated systems) are dealing with multi-physics problems, shorter design time and multivariable optimization to obtain higher efficiencies and more compact designs. The target audience for this workshop is all who wish to learn how to leverage design automation techniques to optimize their power electronics system (in efficiency, size, thermal performance etc.), how to identify and understand the design limits imposed by the currently available technology and to learn which tools are suitable for design optimization and automation. The workshop content is especially suitable for: DESIGNERS in the field of power electronics PROVIDERS of design automation tools for all aspects including modeling and simulation software, physical design tools, design for reliability, etc. MANUFACTURERS of test and characterization equipment. The workshop is organized as a single-track event with one morning and one afternoon technical lecture session. Both sessions will be followed by a panel discussion where the attendees will have an opportunity to engage directly with presenters. The organization of both sessions will be identical, starting with a talk from an academia speaker, followed by a talk from an industry representative. Afterward, there will be two additional presentations from companies that are active in the field of design automation. The sessions will conclude with a Q&A discussion panel. Each technical lecture will last 25 minutes with additional 5 minutes for short Q&A, while the final Q&A panel discussion will last for one hour and 15 minutes. The presenters in the first session will address the issues of automation and optimization in the area of power electronics for automotive applications, while in the second session the topic of the talks would be related to power electronics for aerospace applications. As this is the first time that this type of workshop is organized the registration will be free for all the participants. Electronic copies of the workshop presentations will be made available to workshop participants.
