Vikith U S, a third-year Electronics and Communication Engineering student at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE), Bengaluru, and currently serving as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE CEDA DSCE Student Chapter. My academic and professional interests lie in VLSI design, semiconductor technology, digital systems, and RISC-V based processor development. I am deeply passionate about understanding how modern integrated circuits are built from the fundamental device level to full-fledged SoC architectures.

Over the past few years, I have developed a strong inclination toward chip design, low-power architectures, and hardware-level optimization. My curiosity for semiconductor technology grew through hands-on projects and coursework, where I explored topics such as 64KB NAND Flash memory architecture design, 4-bit ALU design, 8051 interfacing techniques for ADC, DAC, and stepper motors. I have also worked on applied engineering projects, including a railway security and monitoring system using LiDAR and AI-integrated camera sensors, which strengthened my interest in digital hardware implementation and embedded system design.

My research focus is gradually evolving toward RISC-V ISA, SoC design, and optimization in VLSI circuits. I am particularly fascinated by open-source hardware development and the scope it offers for customization, innovation, and collaborative learning. I aim to continuously grow my expertise and contribute to impactful semiconductor and VLSI-based solutions.

As the Vice-Chair of IEEE CEDA DSCE, I actively work to create meaningful learning opportunities for students interested in semiconductors and EDA tools. I collaborate closely with my team and our faculty advisor to organize workshops, technical talks, SoC design sessions, and hands-on training programs that expose students to practical semiconductor workflows and modern chip design methodologies. My involvement in these initiatives has not only strengthened my technical foundation but also helped me grow as a leader capable of planning, coordinating, and executing student-driven technical events.

Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently participated in problem-solving activities, poster creation initiatives, Event planning tasks, and College & department-level events. These engagements have improved my analytical skills, technical communication, and ability to work effectively within a team. I am always eager to learn, explore new technologies, and challenge myself through projects that demand creativity and practical understanding.

Looking ahead, I aim to deepen my expertise in digital IC design, RISC-V processor development, EDA workflows, and semiconductor research. I hope to contribute to the open-source hardware community and eventually participate in chip tapeout programs that allow students to experience real-world fabrication pipelines. I strongly believe that India’s semiconductor mission is gaining momentum, and I am committed to being part of this growing ecosystem.

As I continue my journey, I aspire to build a strong technical profile, contribute to collaborative learning environments, and encourage other students to explore the dynamic and impactful world of VLSI and semiconductor engineering.
