Although still in their infancy, quantum computers have already been applied in a variety of disciplines such as quantum chemistry, machine learning, and optimization. In this talk, we give a brief overview of quantum computing before detailing the current state of the art in quantum computing hardware and software. We will see how these systems are helping to train users for the time when there is a definitive advantage to running certain tasks on a quantum computer.
